Mainland China travel permits a boon to Hong Kong business community
15 July 24

We welcome the visa-free scheme that enables seamless travel to the mainland for non-Chinese permanent residents of Hong Kong and Macau. This is an excellent move that will bolster both cross-border travel and commercial activity.  In addition to signalling the country’s support for Hong Kong and determination for Hong Kong to continue to serve as an international hub under the ‘one country, two systems’ framework, the scheme demonstrates that the Central Government and Hong Kong Government are working together to enhance this framework to bolster our city’s international appeal.

The business-friendly scheme has received very positive feedback from both the local and international business communities.  Hong Kong must capitalise on this opportunity and formulate more measures to attract talents from the ASEAN and beyond, as our city is an ideal gateway into the mainland.  Businesses across a wide range of industries can engage and collaborate with their counterparts in the region to devise exchanges and programmes to tap into the talent pool. Together, they can form ecosystems covering talent development, in collaboration with overseas and regional partners.
