Ramakien, the Thai version of the Indian epic Ramayana, holds an important place in Thai literary canon, and inspires the animation Mantra Warrior: The Legend of the Eight Moons, which is a reimagined tale set in a futuristic universe. According to the legend, a divine power capable of creating or destroying everything will awaken in a female body every 500 years. Only the Mantra Warriors, destined to emerge when the eight moons align, can protect this divine power from annihilation. Two rival coalitions have been locked in conflict for 999 years, with the awakening of this divine power imminent. Emperor Tossakaan believes the power resides in Princess Sita, wife of Prince Raam from the opposing camp. Tossakaan abducts her, prompting three warriors from Prince Raam’s side to embark on a rescue mission. As tensions reach their peak, a cosmic war is on the verge of exploding.
